Easter is approaching this Sunday, April 5, and Logan County has plenty of opportunities this weekend to create special memories with loved ones and to pause and reflect on the importance of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection.

On Good Friday, the LoCo Depot Training Center, 210 W. Columbus Ave., Suite 1., Bellefontaine, offers a unique event with their annual Jesus Workout. This workout is encouraged to be done with a partner and is open to everyone.

It can be modified to any fitness level. Doors will open at 6 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Workout begins at 6:15 a.m. and 9 a.m.

The barbell represents the Cross; and the 14 Stations of the Cross are:

1-Jesus condemned to death; 2-Jesus accepts the cross; 3-Jesus falls the first time; 4-Jesus meets His mother; 5-Simon of Cyrene carries the cross; 6-Veronica wipes the face of Jesus; 7-Jesus falls the second time; 8-Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem; 9-Jesus falls the third time; 10-Jesus is stripped of His garments; 11-Crucifixion: Jesus is nailed to the cross; 12-Jesus dies on the cross; 13-Jesus' body is removed from the cross; and 14-Jesus is laid in the tomb and covered in incense.

Then on Saturday morning, April 4, “Easter at the Farm” is planned at Marmon Valley Farm, 7754 S. State Route 292, Zanesfield. The cost is $5 per person.

The interactive morning includes a pancake breakfast, a hayride, a pony ride for ages 2-11 and under, and a family scavenger hunt. Children 11 years and under will receive a goodie bag to take home when the hunt is completed.

Participants can also enjoy the petting zoo and play areas. The pancake breakfast runs from 8:30 to 11 a.m., and pony rides and hayrides are from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Reservations are highly recommended and can be made by calling (937) 593-8000 or online at https://marmonvalley.com/events/easter-on-the-farm.html .

If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, step back in time to experience Easter traditions of the past at the Piatt Castle near West Liberty at 4 p.m. Saturday. Learn about the history of Easter customs, play egg games, and create an old-fashioned Easter card after looking at Piatt family Easter postcards.

Much to the delight of young candy-seekers at Easter time, there are a plethora of egg hunts taking place around Logan County this week as well:

Easter Egg Hunt – Friday, April 3, 6–7 p.m., Zanesfield United Methodist Church;

The Ultimate Egg Drop – Saturday, April 4, 11 a.m., Indian Lake Schools football field;
