The Greater Ohio Living History Association WWII US Mech Forces HQ returns to Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek on Saturday, April 18.

The program called, “GI’s and Jerry: Life on the Front,” will be a series of presentations from 10 to 4 p.m. The free outdoor event is located at 10051 Township Road 47, one mile east of West Liberty. (Regular admissions to tour Mac-A-Cheek Castle apply).

These historical reenactors, which has been coming to Piatt Castle for over a decade, have been praised for their historical accuracy as they offer insight into what the military men and women of the World War II generation endured.

The chateau-like appearance of the castle serves as an inspiring backdrop as they demonstrate and discuss strategies employed by American and German troops during World War II.

Multiple presentations will be given throughout the day and public interaction is strongly encouraged. At noon, there will be a special presentation on the Ohio State Guard. A battle briefing, followed by a combat demonstration begins at 12:45 p.m.

In addition, as part of AM250-Ohio programming, local American History teacher Jack Switzer will also be on site. He will be discussing how the American Revolution should also be considered a world war.

This event is sponsored by the Mac-A-Cheek Foundation for the Humanities with support from the Mary Eleanor Morris Fund of the Columbus Foundation and AM250-OH.

Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek is open for public tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. now until Memorial Day weekend, when the site will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The weekend schedule returns after Labor Day.
