The Indian Lake Board of Education received an update on the school-based health center and district student wellness measures during their October regular meeting. Jara Everhart, from Community Health and Wellness Partners, presented information about the CHWP School-Based Health Center located at Indian Lake Middle School that serves all participating Indian Lake students, staff and the public. Everhart explained that the center provides many medical services, including an increasing need for mental health services. "Overall, we are focused on the success of these students, catching any barriers soon. If they have health challenges or mental health needs, the sooner we catch those needs, the sooner we can wrap around them in care and truly support these students. " Indian Lake Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood presented the annual update on the Student Wellness and Success and Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Fund Plan, which is also listed on the district website. "We develop the plan in collaboration with the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center and with the local Mental Health Board. It's a very detailed document, but it's just the way we support our students outside of their regular academic needs,” the superintendent explained. In addition, Dr. Underwood presented the first quarterly attendance report that is now required by the state.
