After months of campaigning, meeting voters and sharing their experience and vision for Logan County’s Family Court, Sarah Warren emerged as the winner of Tuesday’s election, Nov. 3, defeating fellow candidate Miranda Warren by 2,922 votes, according to unofficial totals from the Logan County Board of Elections.
Logan County voters cast 9,657 votes for Sarah Warren, while her opponent Miranda Warren received 6,735 votes, for the full-term judge seat that commences Feb. 9, 2027, according to unofficial totals.
The race brought two candidates with different professional backgrounds and perspectives to the forefront, giving voters an opportunity to consider what each would bring to the courtroom and the families it serves.
Both women entered the race with a commitment to the work of Family Court and a desire to contribute their knowledge, experience and abilities to the community.
For Sarah, the victory represents the opportunity to continue work she has already begun as a Logan County Family Court magistrate. She has served in that role for two years, following a decade as a felony prosecutor.
During her campaign, Sarah emphasized continuity within the court, pointing to the experience of its staff and the importance of maintaining relationships with the schools, Job and Family Services, law enforcement and other community partners who work alongside the court.
Her experience as both a prosecutor and magistrate has given her a view of the court from different sides of the legal process. She has said she hopes to build on the work already being done while continuing to look for ways to serve children and families effectively.
Miranda brought a different set of professional experiences to the race, drawing on approximately 21 years of family law experience. Her campaign centered on the importance of professionalism, steady leadership and treating every person who comes before the court with dignity and respect.
While the candidates offered voters different perspectives, both highlighted the importance of a court that serves families with fairness, professionalism and care.
The election marks the conclusion of a campaign, but the work of Family Court continues. For Sarah, the next chapter will involve moving from magistrate to judge and preparing to take on the full responsibilities of the elected position.
The nearly 3,000-vote margin gave Sarah Warren a clear victory, but the race also offered voters an opportunity to hear from two women willing to put their professional experience and commitment to public service before the community. Now, with the votes cast and the outcome decided, Sarah will prepare to lead Logan County’s Family Court into its next chapter.
