West Liberty-Salem senior Madden Kilgore was selected for a unique honor and a special detail during his participation in the 88th session of American Legion Buckeye Boys State.
Each year at Buckeye Boys State, the Ohio State Highway Patrol works with a select group of delegates, providing a unique opportunity to experience the values of service, discipline, and leadership.
Beginning with a pool of 60 applicants, Madden was among just 30 students selected to participate in this year's Ohio State Highway Patrol program during the conference at Miami University.
Buckeye Boys State is one of Ohio's premier leadership programs, bringing together outstanding young men from across the state to learn about government, leadership and citizenship.
Following the week-long experience, participants had the opportunity to interview for the Ohio State Highway Patrol Cadet Program later this summer, and Madden was one of only 15 students selected.
This prestigious opportunity reflects Madden’s leadership, character and commitment to service, school officials said.
“We are proud of Madden for representing West Liberty-Salem with excellence and for taking advantage of opportunities that challenge young leaders to grow and serve others. Congratulations, Madden, on this outstanding achievement.”
